I have been looking for an out of the way place to go that I don't have to drive a long way to get there and I found this site. I'm new to this area and need a 'hideout'. I've been reading the posts on the message boards and it seems mostly men attend. Are there any other ladies that go to the cove? I'm not easily embarrassed but birds of a feather stick together, so to speak. I'm not against men being there, just would like to make friends and hang out with other girls.

Me an my hubby have been out at the cove a couple of times since we found it, there is not much beach since the water level is still up an it is hotter then you know what out there. but as soon as this heat wave lets up we'll be back, there were only a couple of guys there but they were very friendly. give us a shout an if we can we'll meet you there.

That would be great! I'd love to meet new people, lay out and chat. I need to have a beach though. When do they think the water will go down enough to have a beach?

I have to agree with Bob. A woman probably shouldn't go to the cove by herself. I'd recommend taking a cell phone and pepper spray or some kind of spray if someone is going down to the cove alone. I actually met a woman who sometimes would go along. I let her know when I'm going to the cove so she knows someone who will there. I would suggest to any female to meet some people and go with them to the cove. I'm guessing the hay is probably up some and in the next few weeks they will probably be cutting it if it doesn't rain too much.

A couple of questions regarding the level of the water has come up again recently. Here below is a link George posted a few weeks ago regarding the lake level. Anything above 865 and there isn't any beach. You can check it out before you go to the cove to see how high it is. I'm guessing it will be at least 3 weeks before it goes down a lot. They also don't tend to let any water out. There are areas to the left you can go to lay out and even catch a breeze if the wind blowing.

I can't recommend that a single woman go to the cove alone. It's just too remote.

If you want to go alone, I would suggest Camp Gaea. It's not that far. Yes, it's mostly guys. (Mostly gay guys in my experience.) You should be safe there. Go on a weekend. There will be plenty of people there. You shouldn't have any trouble on a weekend there.

I've never been to one of the swims, but that may be an option for you. Safety is a given. Maybe you can meet some women there. I understand it's a mixed crowd.

And to answer your original question, I know last fall a brave man got his boat back up in there and there was a lady there with him.

And fwiw, my daughter and I sometimes go, but she isn't in quite the "lady" category yet.

My wife and I go together every so often. We've never seen too many people there at one time but have seen women there on several occasions. You can contact if you want my wife to join you sometime.

Glad to have found other women that go. Now I need to find free time to get there to lay out. I've been laying out at a friends pool, but want to get the full tan.

except bad news today was a guy got arrested for indecent exposure by park rangers but not sure if they will keep coming back. They said topless women is ok but you need pants to not get arrested or ticketed if they come around.
