Retirements

by NY Ravens

From now on, are players only going to retire at the end of cotnracts, or continue retiring after they do in the NHL? From my perspective, if we continue retiring guys as soon as they leave the NHL, then it makes long-term offers pretty value-less, as I could commit to, say, Brad May at 2 million for four years, when in reality, if he will retire in a year, a 1 year, 2.3 million dollar offer is better. Since we have no way of knowing whether they are planning on retiring or not, I think making teams honour contracts to their end is a good idea.

Just my two cents. Thoughts?
