Hi Wayne,

I used a trailer last weekend from one of my friends to haul some dirt. I must say, the cr-v is very capable . I hauled more than 1000lbs, i am sure. Although it was short distance.

Anyway, my question is I would be in the market for a trailer soon. I remember seeing your trailer pic here and i really liked it.

Just have some questions....

Where did you get it in Canada ?
How much ?
Whats the size of the trailer ?
Whats the wheel size ?
Does it tilt and whats included ?
Are the sides included ? As most are just the frame.
Is it a 1 7/8 ball and whats the capacity ?
What is the manufacture or model # ?
Do you like it and would recommend it ?

Any website that offers more info ?

Thanks for your time. Sorry for all the questions. Its just that if i decide to get one , i want to keep it for a long time. So i want to get a good one.

BTW, my uses for it are utility, landscape and moving.

First of all, I had it made by a local shop here in Ottawa. It is 4' x 8' inside dimensions. It has a 4 1/2' tongue for a total of 12 1/2' in length. It has a 1 7/8" ball, 13" wheels, and weighs about 225# empty. It will carry a GVW of 2500#, far more than the CR-V can handle comfortably. I use it for the same things you want one for. Originally, I had to move my son to Oshawa, and got most of his furniture for a 1 bedroom apartment in it. The things I like specifically about this one is that it has a pressure treated wood floor which can be easily replaced and the sides are about 12" high with a tie down bar all around about 4" above the walls. Also, there are square holes which will accomodate 2" x 4"'s which can be used to make high walls for things like furniture moving. I chose the basic swing down/removable tailgate but the guy also can make a landscape ramp if I wanted to carry ride on tractors, lawnmowers, ATV's etc. I can always go back and get that later on if needed (he's been in business for 37 years, his sons now work for him too). He also had umpteen other various sizes. This particular trailer does not have a tilt feature nor a removable or swingdown tongue like the one Costco sells. The Costco one has some other neat features too like a folddown removable front wall for extra long flat loads and also the side walls remove. I paid $925 for mine custom painted in any Tremclad colour of my choice. Of course I chose the Tremclad Black to match my Nighthawk Black Pearl I've been very happy with it and have used it about 10 times now since getting it last fall. Great this time of year for yardwork. I picked up a large order from Sears last week (13 piece cast aluminum patio set) and a storage shed. I don't know how I lived without it! And so far, none of my neighbours have been wanting to borrow it. It's beginning to show a few war scars now, but nothing a can of Tremclad can't fix. Here's what it looks like again:

I will try Costco, but got to get a membership first as i don't have one. I will see if its worth getting one.

Thanks again for your time,

Matt

Again, it's a local company. The guy I bought from is a small hole in the wall welding shop. The guy, his wife who does the books (don't think the welder is literate) and his 2 sons. Something tells me he hasn't even heard of the world wide web! The trailers are made to spec and DOT approved.
Here is the website of another local shop that sells various trailers of all types. Drill through open trailers, utility trailers and you'll see what they have. Their's are a little heavier duty than mine and a couple or three hundred dollars more too.
