No one player stood out to me last night rookie or otherwise. Just a couple players that I really watched last night:
I thought Lepp had a good game (the first half) it was really the first time I had seen him play other than a few minutes in Seattle last year in a very bad game that Kelowna beat us like 8-3 or something lopsided like that. Got away with a pretty good hack to one of the Giants players midsection.
I also thought Tarnasky played well. I hope they plan on keeping him around.
Palin gave up two power play goals. OUCH! He had a wrestling match with BigSnake in the 3rd. But overall I thought he played well. I think the coach is playing him in situations like the power play and penalty kill to see how he does.
Can anyone tell me two things that I was questioning......does Kelowna have any import players? Also who is the other goalie, where did he come from etc? I am wondering if they will be looking to get a goalie to mentor Lepp or just let him go this year and see how he does.
On another note......traffic on hwy 1 was terrible last night (it usually takes me 2 1/2 hours from Seattle to get to Vancouver) almost 5 last night. Kelowna also got stuck in this and didn't arrive at the arena until almost 6:00.
Kelowna has two euros...Joni Lindlof, a speedy forward compared to Cam Paddock, as well as Tomas Slovak, who we had last year.
The backup goalie this year could very well be Kelly Guard. He was a pickup from Prince Albert, he led the Kindersley Klippers of the SJHL to the league championship last season.
