If the Kelowna Rockets get their way, there will be video replay screens at Prospera Place in time for the upcoming Western Hockey League season.
Rockets Vice President of Business Development, Gavin Hamilton, says the club is working with the City of Kelowna and building owner R.G. Properties to try and make video replay screens a reality.
"We're trying to come up with a way to get video replay screens into Prospera Place. I can assure you Bruce (President and General Manager Bruce Hamilton) is on the phone with them every day," says Hamilton.
"We've put some ideas forward to try and make this happen. Our goal would be for it to be in place by the start of the season."
Hamilton says a video replay system would not be part of the main scoreboard, but instead would more than likely include a series of four screens in each corner of the building.
The cost of the video technology would run somewhere in the neighbourhood of $600,000 to $700,000.
Hamilton added a new reader board for the base of the scoreboard is on the way.
There were problems with the reader board last season which prevented fans in the north end of Prospera Place under Manhattan Point Restaurant from reading the messages.
"The new reader board will be able to do a lot more things than the current one can, although it won't have the ability to provide replays."
Meantime, the Rockets also announced a slight increase to season tickets for the upcoming season.
Hamilton says the average adult ticket will increase 92 cents per game or just over $33 for the season.
He says a decision has not been made on the price of individual game tickets.
