"A big night for the road teams"
All four road teams win Wednesday night in round two of the WHL playoffs. In Vancouver, the Portland Winterhawks continue to do things the hard way as they improve to 5-0 on the road to go along with their 0-5 home record in these playoffs, edging out the Vancouver Giants 3-2 in Game 3 of their series. The Giants still lead the series 2 games to 1 but now Portland needs only to win one of the next two in Vancouver in order to get the series back to Portland for a possible Game 6 and 7. The Giants were handed their first loss of the playoffs after winning the first six. Chris Francis had three assists for the Hawks while James Wright scored twice for the Giants. It was a tight game on all counts with Portland out shooting Vancouver 38-31 while going 2 for 5 on the power play while the Giants went 1-4. Ian Curtis got the start for Portland instead of Mac Carruth and he played well making 29 saves on 31 shots while Mark Segal stopped 35 of 38. Can Portland continue to dominate on the road? We shall see as Game 4 will be on Friday night.
