I have a copy of the Complete Works of Shakespeare published by Universal Text Books Ltd. and printed by Richard Clay and Company Ltd.
The problem is, the book is old enough not to have a publishing date inside it.
I have tried searching the web for a good, helpful site but to no avail. I have even tried searching Amazon, which doesn't recognise the publisher.
I received it second hand as a gift, and it had two programs for Shakspearean plays dated in the early 1950's- so it could be somewhere around then.
Does anyone know if the publusher and/or printer is still up and running and if they have a website? Any other help would be greatly appreciated also :).

I too have the Complete works of W.S. printed by Richard Clay. My copy was published by New Era Publishing Company in London.
This copy contains:
"His plays and poems, history of his life, his will and an introduction to each play to which is added an index to the characters. Illustrated with original designs by T.M. Matterson. Engraved by Alexander Anderson."
I too am searching for a publishing date and wonder if it might be the same book, albeit from a different publisher (where are you located) and if you had any success in your search for a date.
