Both used return line

The CJ, and the SCJ both used the small Fuel Return line on the drivers side. Both 429's had just one tank sender, with the extra nipple- D1ZZ-9275-B. They both also used the center line that runs to the charcoal canister. This center line vented tank fumes to the canister, where they were then pulled into the air cleaner, to be burned with the fuel. This kept the tank fumes from escaping into the air, when the gas cap was removed. The drivers side Fuel Return Line, returned un-used fuel back to the tank. The un-used fuel was created while the fuel pump was still pumping, while the needle and seat in the carb were closed. I guess that without this, the pump being so large, would blow the needle open, which would flood the carb. Ford, also ran a Fuel Return line on it's 429-460 Lincolns, LTD's, and T-Birds.
