Yes, both rods are cobra jets. Regular 429-460 rods had square bolt heads, and were marked C8VE-A, and were cut straight across (broched) on the bolt head surface. This put a sharp angle into the rod, which weakened it. The D00E rods were "spotfaced" in the head area, which wasn't as weak as the "brouching'. Both rods are basically the same forgings though, the only difference being the way they were machined, and the number asigned to them, and the bolt head shape. //it is possible to find the C8VE rod, with the better "spotface", using the oval bolt head, in a CJ/SCJ service engine.
