I agree with the other replys. On the timing, with the vacuum gauge installed, and at idle, try advancing your timing while checking the vaccuum reading. By advancing the timing you shoul be able to get a higher vaccuum reading. While advancing, your idle speed will increase, so it will need to be lowered as you advance. You may be able to advance untill you reach the highest vacuum reading, but there's a chance that your Total Timing will be too high, and may cause the engine to Ping. If this is the case, you can have the amount of Centrifical Advance reduced in your distributer, which will lower your Total Timing. Most well equiped Speed Shops will be able to do this. This will help a lot with your idle, and low RPM operation. Try it out.
