These Ditzler/PPG "numbers" are not mix numbers, even though PPG uses a 4 digit code for there body color mixes. The part number for the PPG "factory Pack black" would be "DDL1234", as an example. The DDL stood for somthing like Duraycrl Laquer. It was a pre mixed paint, and is no longer available. There have also been many comments writen on this subject by Bob Perkins, and others. The 65-72 Ford Master Parts Books have only listed two paints, the two I spoke of. The book "How to Paint your Mustang" also only lists 2 "pack" numbers. Someone who also tried to tell me they could still buy these paints, were actually using paint for 90's GT Mustangs, which isn't the same. Call a PPG store and ask them if they can "mix" the paint based on just those numbers? They won't be able to, as these black numbers are not mix numbers. They wont even find the numbers in there Computer, or on there paint chart. Bob Perkins even stated that you could take the body gloss black, and add a flatening agent to it. I had to have PPG mix me a generic Flat black for an Alfa Romao, and then I had to add a Flatenning agent to it to get it right.
