I agree with you that this hobby is getting very expensive. After spending a lot of money on a restoration you still want to be able to drive it around without worrying about theft or an accident, and forget about trying to "open it up". Here in Southern California my 1971 cj car has a hard time keeping up with 75mph traffic and/or bumper to bumper traffic. If it isn't running 3500rpm, it is running 210 degrees F. Oh well, I guess that is the penalty we pay for having good taste in musclecars.
