Museum Theater priorities
by
Hey Catherine - In justifying the fledgling museum theater program at the Indiana State Museum, I usually respond with:
1. Must support the mission statement of the organization - however fragile the thread.
2. Within the story arc/structure of the piece, it must provide at least one solid learning experience - I know, I know - that leaves it open to a wide interpretation. I have found, however, that usually works in my favor, whether working to adhere to state academic standards or providing anecdotal comments in concerts.
3. Can't go wrong using primary sources.
4. Must, obviously, be entertaining/engaging - remaining true to dramatic needs.
That's all for now. Cheers! David
