Re: The Heart of the Matter

Paul,

I agree with you that money is one thing but you need people to have passion for theatre to be on your side, but with us, we dont have that, we are in essence the only people who actually understand what we do. So despite our understanding and our preaching to them they will only look at the bottom line, and if we dont make the grade, questions will be asked why not. Work Hard is the only way to do it, you have to work hard or it fails and what you do will fail. The big need for me and what we do here in Ireland is hard factual research that shows the benefits of Museums theatre, because i am not an accountant and to be honest would never wish to be and as much as i can preach about the benefits and the pros of museum theatre to my bosses and meet their financial targets the only way i may get through to them would be hard facts, and then it might not be such a struggle.

Maybe i am being a bit cynical, but we all know the benefits of museums theatre and we all talk a good game but until we have something to back it up, we are going to have to fight and struggle to be seen as a valuable asset, C'est la Vie.

Hey Catherine , good question you set, has had me thinking all week. Cheers

Rob
