Just a thought, but we encounter the fear factor quite a lot with our public. Basically the visitor/child really enjoys what we do, however in general research we did, one of the questions we asked was basically if you knew that there were historical actors in the museum would you want them to speak to you and that sort of thing, and the majority of them before they met the characters said no. They are afraid to interact or to be placed on the spot. Because of this we trained our staff to gently encourage visitors to interact but if they dont want to we do our stuff and leave them to it. Its one of the problems of 1st person historical interpretation.

Anyway not sure if it was that relevant but hey, its thursday and i'm going on holiday soon. Yippeee!
