I was born the Son of a Spad Driver (Skyraider pilot)) in 1954. For years, the US Navy allowed our family to call New Jersey, Florida, Illinois, Texas, California and Virginia “Home.” Got to add Maryland to the list during my years as an aircrewman in Naval Reserve P-3A/B/C Orions.
Built my first model in 1960, and am still trying to improve my skills. I really think that my modeling peak occurred during my teenage years, when I was unafraid of trying new techniques and didn’t worry about less-than-stellar results. Nowadays, a project may languish for months (years) until my skills improve to my level of satisfaction. Oddly enough, no one else gives a hoot about the results – “Cute model,” they remark.
Someday, I’ll get around to following ModelDad’s advice for posting photos. (I won’t mind forwarding an un-zipped pic, or two, to anyone willing to take on the chore.)
