I am 42 years old, married to Emma, with two boys, Thomas and Simon, ages 9 and 5. Simon is also a modeller, on his third airplane, an Airfix 1/72 Hampden, which will be silver "because I think all airplanes should be silver."
I am an archaeologist specializing in shipwrecks, and have directed excavations in the US, Turkey, and Denmark. I have been a college professor (at Texas A&M - Gig'em, Ags) and worked for the National Museum of Denmark. Between us, my wife and I have been resident aliens in nine different countries. Currently I am the head of research and publications for the Vasa Museum in Stockholm, Sweden, where I look after a 64-gun warship that sank in 1628 and was raised intact in 1961 (Scandinavia's most visited museum).
My modelling interests (aside from the ship models I build as part of my work) are not especially focused, as I have everything from pre-WWI to modern jets in the stash, as well as a few Formula 1 cars, but mostly I have been building 1/48 fighters and 1/72 flying boats.
