The content is just scattered out some... looks the same to me

I have to say, I've not been modeling much lately myself. No place, working two jobs, taking some graduate extension classes, raising a teenager (feel like I'm doing a really poor job of it too).
The recession is also probably taking a toll. Checked out the prices of model kits lately? OMG!
I think the Airfix group build is very timely. Inexpensive, old-school modeling a kid can do, as well as an adult... and face it, the kits aren't half bad!
I had a revelation a couple of years back. Our IPMS chapter (may it rest in peace) had a P47 Thunderbolt build-off. We got about 12 of them. A 50 dollar (at the time) Tamiya Bubbletop won first, and my $7.50 Monogram checkertail won second. OOB except for some tape seat belts. The guy who built the Tamiya kit was somewhat amazed at how close the two kits were. The gun barrels were better on the Tamiya, of course, but the rest was nowhere near worth an extra ten bucks, let alone an extra 43 dollars.
I think a Monogram group build is something timely for the economy today!
