No I am not happy with the way Barking and Dagenham housing treats people. They think because you live in a run down area that is the way they can treat you. I am going to do everything in my power to cause hell with them.

i can only assume you are having similar proplems as myself when it comes down to housing matters, i totally agree that living in an area shouldnt affect the way you are treated i am scared to go in and out of my own flat yet i have to accept this, yes, i will do everything in my power to put this right, how dare we be treated as second class citizens, they accept our rent with no problems.

I have just recently had a nothing run in with the council and again I have been passed from one department to another. I feel that people should start have a say of what is going on. Do you know how much is beening spent on the town center where by nothing is being spent on the resident area. Any one that want to responed to this, please do so direct to me if you like. I think it is time to start to take a stand.

I have to disagree, there has been loads of money spent on the new Dover Corner Roundabout and dont forget those brilliant lights at Thatched House roundabout, makes a brilliant landmark. Yes i am being sarcastic

My Children go to Gascoigne and i live on the same estate and i find it very frustarting that the estate seems to be used as a dumping ground for refugees and yet i am made to wait. It seems that it is common practice for this to happen and we are powerless to do anything

Suzanne, i am in total agreement with you, and it is a fact that not only doe the estate house these people but Gascoigne School has a major problem with what they call mobility, this is a turnover of children arriving and departing within a school year( ie not finishing their term. In one instance a class had a 100% mobility ( turnover within a school year. This means not 1 childout of the entire class stayed the full year. It is also reported that Gascoigne School is made up of 30% refugees and where do they live, three guesses huh

My sister has had areas of her bathroom, Toilet and Kitchen ceiling taped up with plastic due to possible asbestos. Over a year later it still hasnt been treated. One of her landing walls need plastering due to excessive damp and over three years its still not done. I know there are many more people with more serious problems out there. What is needed is a complete list of these complaints wriiten out and a spokesperson to attend some type of meeting with the council with a view to get reporters there to write a story on how disatisfield alot of people are.

As frustrating as it is ( and believe me i know) but i do think that working within the system ( as suggested by the author of Barking & Dagenham.net) is the best way to approach the Housing Department. Whilst i still have to wait and endure countless excuses from them, at least they can not hold me accountable for any mistakes, as they usually do
