Saying that the only reason people work for big companies is "right place, right time" just reeks of jealousy. If that were true, anyone can put themselves in that right place and that right time, and make it. If you go to a tryout and get signed, is that right place, right time? If you toil in the indys for years to get noticed, then when you do get noticed and signed, is that right place, right time?
Of course there are people that get signed that don't deserve it, but to lump everyone into the "right place, right time" category is a huge insult. And yes, we all know jobbers are there to make people look good, but they are 99% of the talent?? Dude, it sounds like you're completely jaded and bitter. Get to one of those places at the right time, and you'll get signed. Maybe someone will make you look good.
As far as this topic goes, I guess the originator should define "Top". To me, a champ in the largest org in the world means "top". Yes, there are two guys in an Armory putting on a 5 star, 60 minute classic that 100 people see. That really doesn't classify as "top". But maybe someday, they'll find that right place, at the right time.
