the nwa is not what it once was. obvioulsy. but what it is, is still the longest running wrestling fed in existance, and yes the nwa world title is the same title flair, dusty, funk, steam boat etc held. while many people call their belt a world title, theirs is a legit world title. the oldest one there is.
another thing the nwa is, is still around. there is no wcw, ecw, awa, smw, wccw, uswa etc etc etc. and its not like the wwe is anywhere near what they once were either. that to me says a lot.
yes tna put the nwa world title on mnay great wrestlers and on ppv and tv for years, and that was not so long ago.
while i think they dropped the ball big time with not giving colt cabana a much longer title run, its not like pierce hanst been around for like 15- 20 years or so. so i think hes much more well known that a random indy guy that only wrestles in one area. and at least he is not a star of $5 dollar wrestling,like the sheik.
chance wrestles all over with a great gimmick and defends his belt. isnt that what the main complaint about the nwa is? that the wrestlers dont do that? so he does, so i dont see whats to complain about.
i agree that most indy wrestlers arent draws themseves, but when put together with others, is what draws. but who in any wrestling really is a draw by themselves anymore? not many.
oh i dont think tommy gibson is anything but a substitute for robert when hes not a round. so im drinking no kool aid.
if it is actually $1500 to join i think it all depends on what you are planning on doing with your fed. if the situation is you have very little money, and are like lets just try and run a fed, then no i wouldnt join the nwa. but if you are planning doing this for real for years to come, then it might be worth it, on the name alone, and if they give you other perks, then great. they do need to do more for their members imo.
i also think you have to have been a fed for awhile to join anyways, at least it used to be that way, to be a regular member. an affiliate i dont know.
