ive only been to one war show and it was a long time ago. but they had a packed house and the fans where into it. for thet most part the talent was top notch, probably the best group of guys outside of the old columbus gang that ive seen. they had brought in Nigel and Dean Jablonski and maybe a few other indy "names" at the time. they where using Cody Deaner before anyone else was. they where doing the sons of michigan gimmick long before PWO. aside from a few of the regulars that they pretty much had to book it was a great mix. like i said, i havent been to a war show in quite some time but it seems like lately both war and pwo are using alot of the same talent. i havent been to a pwo show so i cant say how things look live but i have to say they've had some really dissapointing crowds. theyve also drawn some good crowds. their brawl in the hall was probably the biggest crowd they've drawn and it did look alot better on tv than some of there other shows. i know that war tapes their shows. im not sure if they have local tv in lima or if its just for the internet or what but the war show i did attend had a nice profesional looking setup. the building they run in lima has a stage so theyve used it to there advantage and constructed a ramp from the stage to the ring. they had a screen that plays videos/pictures of talent as the head to the ring. i dont think entrances are everything but they do add to the overall appeal of the show. pwo has had some pretty shoddy entrance ways constructed. no matter what promotion has the time slot they need to step up the production of the events. i think war, should they have been able to take the time slot would have had the advantage there. but if the crowd is small then corale them all to one side of the ring and dont shoot the empty parts of the building. invest in some good qaulity flood lights and focus them on the ring and rampway and turn the house lights off. that alone would make the show look better. i think that no matter whose running the show that the entire format needs to change. how many months does pwo take to build up their annual pavilion show? 3, 4? and of coarse the plug and push the dvd's nonstop. now why on earth would i want to go to wrestlelution of purchase the dvd when i know that once the tapes are edited your going to be showing the entire event for free on tv over the next month. the show should be used just like the tv was used in the territory days, as a tool to get your talent over and get people emotionally invested in said talent enough to want to buy a ticket when you put on the big shows. despite being some of the best workers in the area not many people outside of the indy bubble know who Matt Cross of Marione Fontain are. use the show to build these talents up. squash matches people. no one, NO ONE wants to see MR RBI and Nicki Valentino have a 15 minute match on tv. im sorry but anyone with any sense is going to change the chammel. but if you book Valentio in say 3 matches for the month and an interview and the matches are 4 or 5 minutes long showcasing what he can do and who he is as a charecter and having him go over strong and then doing the same with RBI these guys can start to make that turn. maybe then you announce the 2 of them for your "arena" show and now you have a name against a name. now maybe people will want to see what happens. everything from the wwe to pwo needs to slow down. if your talent doesnt have the ability to draw more that 60 people to your show why bother with all the nonsensical storylines. people just arent interested. people dont want that from the wwe or tna right now. what makes you think with a group of indy guys that the average wrestling fan doesnt know you could get over with this. i think that Tom Williams is a little bit more old school. i think, or at least hope that he would realize that should war get that tv that he would have to spend considerable time in getting over his talent. so who should get the time slot? war of pwo? i guess im not sure. id be fine with pwo continuing or war taking over. whoever has the tv moving forward i can only hope that they realize that the current method in which they produce the show isnt going to get them anywhere. pwo has been around for what? four years now. and they havent grown at all. the crowd sizes have not changed since the inception of the show. and by now if you cant realize that then maybe it is time for WAR Wrestling to come in and see what they can do. anyhow, sorry for the rambling mess. just my 2 cents. fairfax
