Blyth should have won the game long before they did. Carl Pepper follwed up his saved penalty to prod home the winner with 5 mins to go. Steve Stewart scored early on before wayward defending gifted an equaliser.
Blyth controlled throughout, and should have scored on several occasions. Burscough defended in numbers making them hard to break down but Blyth also battled well.
Carl Pepper and Justin Keegan were exceptional in holding the team together. However, Glen Robson limped off with a recurrance of his hamstring injury.
An enternaining game- next up Gateshead in the cup!
I wasn't at the match yesterday. Just a bit sick to hear we had lost it 2min from time to a penalty - even more so to find out the penalty was actually saved! Mind you, that's just typical of us. I reckon we have now thrown away about 6 points this season in the last 5 minutes of games.
Stewart made a run down the wing, as he got ready to cross, your feller made sure Perry wouldn't get to it by bundling Perry over in the box. He'd got away with earlier in the half just outside the area as the ref was concentrating on the man on the ball. As it was, the cross was over-hit and missed everyone but the ref had already blown.
In all fairness, we deserved the win anyway despite Burscough's resolute defending we controlled most of the game but didn't produce enough killer final balls.
