Now Gateshead have now played Accy home and away I can now say that they win this seasons award for being the most dirtiest club in the league.
After we played them a few weeks ago we lost the services of 5 key players.
Tonight they injured young Alex Lawson and the poor kid had to go to hospital with a broken leg. It is thought that a bone had broken through the skin. If that wasn't bad enough the referee didn't even show a card for the challenge.
To be fair you set the tone for the game with some very hard challenges early on. I don't think we were particularly dirty, in fact I think we did well to keep our heads in a very heated game.
Your half time team talk must have instructed the players to come out and keep up the hard tackles, one of our blokes was hacked to the ground several seconds after he had played the ball from the kick off, again no card was shown.
Having said all this I can understand the disapointment, especially as it is such a long trip. To lose in injury time is always a heartbreaker.
i agree with u gateshead fan - accrington are dirty and they are 22nd in fair play tables.
Emley - unlucky last night against league leaders with an own goal.
Don't u think Burton are fluky - eg last sat 1-1 v whitby but a 92nd minute equaliser.
Accrington weren't particularly dirty when they came to Ewen Fields and demolished us in the second half : the best performance I've seen from a side all season. The dirtiest side has to be Blyth although the fixture between Hyde and Blyth has a history after hell broke out when we came back from 3-0 down against them a few seasons ago.
As for Burton being lucky. Of course they are. The referees seem to be always giving them dodgy decisions. I won't go into how unlucky Hyde have been this season, I can't be bothered but it's no secret you get more luck when you're at the top.
When Accy played Blyth at Croft Park a few weeks back there were a lot of tough tackles, but fair ones. They lost their heads a bit just before half when they got a men sent off and surrounded the referee. Apart from that they weren't too bad.
I can't remember the Blyth v Hyde game this season being particularly dirty- I think the events of a few years back have been forgotten on the pitch (we only have 2 remaining players from that day)if not off it.
I've got no real problem with physical sides and don't get the idea that I don't like Blyth. I actually quite like them (because we ALWAYS hammer them at Ewen Fields!) - I save my hatred for Stalybridge, Droylsden, Barrow (contrary to popular belief) and Worksop Town. Oh, plus Manchester United and any other Premiership teams who like to flash the cash - but it's going to be a long time until Hyde will be up there
Fair does Tom but if there's no reason then isn't 'hatred' a bit harsh?
Anyway, we've heard that the Presidents Cup final will be held at Hyde so could you tip off the ladies in the kitchens so that they put more than 1 pie in the oven at a time?? Cheers fella.
Perhaps 'hatred' is probably a bit strong! 'Dislike' is more fair I think! I like to see Barrow lose for some reason, except if they're playing one of our relegation rivals!
As for the tea bar at Hyde, on Monday night I went just at the end of half time;
Me: What pies 'ave you got?
Tea Lady: One cheese and onion, that's it.
Me: 'ave you got any burgers then?
Tea Lady: Yeah, we've got the burgers but we've run out of buns, so you'll have to have it on a tray.
Me: No thanks. I'll 'ave chips then
Tea Lady then gets the chips and helps herself to a couple of them!
