This was a truly awful game. Neither side seemed able to string passes together, and chances on goal were few and far between. Blyth started brightly with a couple of flowing moves which seemed to suggest that this game would not prove to be difficult. However all that soon ended as the game descended into kick and rush. Marine could have scored with a good header from a corner but it just flashed wide. With the pitch in awful condition, the ball became very difficult to control but that was no excuse for the amount of misplaced passes. The second half was even worse, only Stevie Stewart’s late long range effort which was just inches wide was of any note. In all honesty, had it gone in it would have been more than the game merited. If this club wants to bring in more fans, this certainly isn’t the way to do it.
