Ashton brushed aside Spennymoor by playing some excellent attacking football and by defending resolutely. Well done boys. One to go.

Goals came from Cornelly 27, Denney 43 and Blackshaw 90 (98 actually ) after the ref had been given 6 mins to play extra by the fourth official.

Great game today, but how did Spennymoor not equalise when their striker hit that ball over the bar in injury time?

3 cracking goals from Ashton, some un-complimentary comments about Hyde in the programme, a decent attendance, no food in the tea bar, lots of Hyde fans - better than staying in and watching the Women's FA Cup final, as one Hyde fan put it.

Our arch-enemy's Bamber Bridge scabbed it in extra-time, good-ish game, made my mind up about going to the final to support the Ashton so we get a decent derby game next season.

Quite an entertaining game I thought. Radcliffe deserved better - 3-2 the other way would have been more appropriate. I'm sure you can win it on Thursday, Nigel, with the little bit of luck that Radcliffe didn't have today!

Thanks to all teams, including Ossett and Bishops for the support they have shown us over the last few days.

After finishing 3rd yet again, this is our chance to go up and after the performance against Spennymoor I am sure the lads will be up for it on Thursday.

Can't get to the game, ( bugger! ) but will try to have a contact and update the Ashton website on a fairly regular basis throughout the night.
