As a supporter and Management member of Alfreton Town I would like to say how pleased we are to be back in the Unibond League ( whwre we think we belong ) after a three year gap.
We have had some tremendous attendances over the latter end of the season and the question has been asked what is the record attendance at a Unibond match we would like to know Premier League and First Division so if any one can help leave posting on this site or E-Mail me at the following address; franki@w-bentfreeserve.co.uk YOURS IN SPORT Dave.
I would imagine the Div 1 record would have been set by Accrington in the season they came up 2/3 years ago. Didnt they have a massive game with Matlock/Mossley right near the end of the season that decided who won the championship? I think the attendance that day was 2000+.
No doubt Rob would be able to tell us.
As for the Premier, could be Burton's game v Droylsden recently when they were crowned champions. Barrow v Boston in April 1998 would also be around that mark, it was certainly the record at the time.
What about that said day last year when Stalybridge won at Emley? I think the official attendance was about 3200 but I was told that there was at least 5000 there.
You're nowhere near. When the Uni (the Northern Prem league) started back in the late 60s gates of 3000+ at places like Wigan and Scarboro were the norm and the AVERAGE attendance at ALL matches in the first season was 1500. I think the Uni record is about 7500/8000
2468, I think from the Accrington website V Farsley.
Talking about attendances, what about Workington V Mossley in excess of 2000 for a NWCL game to decide who came up. Workington won, it being their 14th win on the trot to clinch the only promotion place.
That is only Accrington's biggest attendance at The Crown Ground (though we had 10,801 at Blackburn's Ewood Park in the FA Cup 2nd Round against Crewe in 1992!).
Thank you for that welcome alan. Hope you can get down to our ground -it is improving and will be improved during the summer(even though it already passed the Unibond inspection) all the time and the pitch is being upgraded to a very high standard this year so we are told. You will find a good welcome here too for Gatehead's fans.So good luck next season(except ,of course, when we play you- but that goes without saying!!).
