Help Football League Clubs

Round 5

on the morning of

THE START OF THE WORLD CUP FINALS
Opening Ceremony & France v Senegal

31st May 2002

Between 11.00 - 15.00

If you watch the matches - don't watch the commercials!

The ITV Digital crisis has forced Bradford – a club in the Premiership only a year ago – into administration, so it’s even more urgent to keep piling the pressure on Carlton and Granada to cough up by spreading the link far and wide before any other clubs go to the wall.

These would be the same Nationwide clubs that refused 2-up 2-down until the Conference provided parachute payments of £70k for three years - money that ought to be spent on Non-League Football.

They deserve our support as much as Ru$hden & Diamonds...

bradford aren't in administration

May 21 2002, 10:11 PM

bradford city are.

again

and again they'll escape with help from the council among others

the same council who helped them in the early 80s and who refused help to bradford fc in the 70s

they bought idiotically and the chairman spent more time on trying to get celtic and rangers into div 1 than he did on his own club's finances. itv digital didn't help but idiocy at the helm was the main factor in their demise

Many Nationwide and for that matter premiership clubs have gone mad with money, thinking that the TV money will never end. Taking that amount via ITV digital was silly- it was not sustainable. Strange how business men that take over clubs fail to see these things!Well they are paying for being stupid and blind. Many non-league sides are better run than nationwide sides.

Business men running clubs

May 22 2002, 8:43 AM

I believe that those clubs that have been run as a business are the most successful, no business man would rely so heavily on a single source of income for the survival of his company.

Clubs such as Preston North End and Blackpool have progressed in leaps and bounds since having a businessman at the helm, both of whom had little or no interest in football. Preston's Chief Exec had never even seen a game of football before he took charge at PNE.

By watching it on the BBC, not only do you have better coverage and no adverts but ITV suffer a loss in viewing figures and it loses them ad revenue. Hit them where it hurts.

Richard's right. Watch it on the BBC. You won't have to put up with Ron Atkinson either.
