No one is having a go because of the team newcastle sent. they are being 'called' (what a stupid expression!)because Sir Bobby PROMISED to send his FULL FIRST TEAM SQUAD and very clearly he didn't.
Who do we think we are? Most of us think we are a non-league club who hope to get back into the conference.

Sorry, I've never met Alan in my life, but I feel you're being a tad harsh there, Mr Anonymous.
This is a guy who spent over a day in a car going around the North of England raising money for Gateshead Football Club. I wouldn't class that as an embarrasment to the club. I bet you'd never do anything like that, would you?

excuse me but I supported the club before I started writing match reports. I don't see you trying to raise money for the club by doing a 24 hour ground tour! Personally I don't care if no-one likes me or not just because I have my own views. Yes I had a go at Newcastle for not playing there strongest team when they said they would. Can you honestly tell me that when they play in Premiership they are going to play the side we played against?
As for smart arse comments I agree with you that I do but it's only to lighten the situation. People play on humour to lighten situations some use fighting, well I use smart arse comments, that by the way, usually have fact in them.
Shall I stop supporting Gateshead then? It would make life a lot easier on people who don't like me. If I stop how will you get information about the club via the internet? no-one else seems to "arsed" to do a website. One of the reasons I do the website IS so I can practice and learn Journalism techniques but I mainly do it because the fans need it.
A couple of weeks ago I blew a fuse and said I was losing my faith in the club, well its not the club its the supporters ive lost faith in. If you don't want me to continue the website then tell me and i'll stop. I'll put a lot of time, money and effort into the site but I'm really getting fed up of the attitude of northern supporters in this country. I cant wait to get back to the south where people seem to have more respect!

If that is the case with regard to Man City and Necastle I have to ask why do they make promises they are not able to keep? Broken promises always lead to animosity. If a club said 'we will sned a team which will include a few players with first team experience then no one would grumble.
What I don't understand about our game with Newcastle is why there were not more people at the game. The Toon fans are so passionate about their team. Perhaps the admission price was too high. Yet they pay more than twice as much to go to SJP.
And what is all this nonsense making personal attacks on people on this forum? Is that what non-league football is all about? I am not surprised Alan gets p***ed off sometimes. He spends many hours keeping the website up to date and writing match reports and travelling to away matches. If he didn't love the club do you think he would really bother about it just so a small minded annonymous individual can slag him off!
Alan - personal attacks are part and parcel of becoming prominent at a club, as you must have found out since you started the site (which looks very good by the way - I just paid my first visit). You just have to ignore them, I think. Descending to their level and threatening to close your site/stop working for the club/whatever might make you feel better as a few people write in to back you up but it's not very dignified and has an air of "I'm taking my ball away so you can't play any more" about it (in my humble opinion). So keep at it and don't let whingers get you down.
On another note, I must admit carping about the standard of Newcastle's side looks like very poor form to me. What do Gateshead really expect? You get 4500 on to watch a very strong side indeed and yet complain because Shay Given wasn't in goal even though you have Cort, Shearer, Ameobi etc etc etc for all 11 names on the team sheet.
If I was Newcastle I would think this very ungrateful.

4,500 is poor really, considering 3,500 made the trip to the ****ty ground in nottingham for a preseason friendly with rushcliffe (nott'm) forest on a monday night.
mind you, the fans were very subdued that night as well.
I don't usually coment on threads like this but I feel seeing that some people think that I'm the one who orignally wrote this message can I just ask Would I sit in a car for 32 hours with the man if I felt like that? I think not
Alan and nick have done great things in trying to raise money for this club it's just a shame other people don't feel the same way
