A closely fought contest ended in controversy as both the Blyth keeper and Ashton's Lee Calvert were red carded after an off the ball incident.
The keeper had hit? Lee who retaliated when the ball was at least 70 yards away. The linesman saw what happened and though the ball was no where to be seen, the referee awarded Ashton a penalty. Presumably the first challenge by the keeper was in the box and the linesman saw that offence as being a penalty.
Ashton went on the win 2-1 after Connor put away the spot-kick.
