I don't know why our result does not appear on the new website, but we did fight a dour goalless draw last night to take a point from a resolutely defensive Belper Town who have only concede 1 away goal in the league this season.
Indeed Belper had the better chances to win the game.
Where you not the home side and second in the league ?Sounds like the dourness came from you not Belper! I think "Must Do better at Home" would be an apt quote!!
Too right we should have done better - we're supposed to be able to break down sides like that.
The fact is that our away performances are far better than our home ones at the moment.
Be that as it may, you're still up there with us, and with a record almost as good as ours. But I wonder if what you say about your home form has any bearing on your attendances, which are way below what they should be for a club in your league position. Mind you, you did get seven at home to Ossett Town, didn't you? Doesn't sound like poor home performances to me! Will Ferriby be in a position to go up, groundwise, if you finish in a promotion position?
Yes, I'm certainly not knocking our position! And it is deserved overall. The 7 against Ossett was largely against 10 men with the keeper being sent off just before half time. A bit like your 11 (or 12?) against 9.
Crowds are a major disappointment, we are down to about 2/3rds of what we had in our last NCEFL season; part of the reason is a total lack of interest from the local media - the so-called "Sport for all" Hull Daily Mail no longer takes a match report on a Saturday - only final scores. There was no preview of last night's game either, although our Press man Mike sent one in, as he always does, talk about a thankless task. That coupled with atrocious weather, probably kept about 50 away.
Finally there is the "Hull City" factor - with the Tigers moving to a new £30-40 mill stadium soon, a lot of dual supporters have fallen for special pass deals covering the next 3 seasons which, naturally, keeps them there even when they are under performing.
Finally, promotion (and we are definitely NOT counting any chickens!); yes, should it happen, we will have all works completed before the 1st April deadline. We start next week on two stand extensions, toilet block including disabled and new turnstile block for which we are grateful for a £40k grant from the Football Stadia trust - your help in assisting us to find the remainder of our £15k contribution will be very much appreciated!
Can't comment on whether we had 11 or 12 - understood what you meant though - because I wasn't there last night (other duties, taking copy for the Mansfield Town game). As to Ossett's 10 against you and nine against us, teams have won or drawn matches in those circs before. They equalised against us just after they had gone down to nine, and I would have expected them to shut up shop and settle for a point.
On another theme, having no game last Saturday, wife and I visited Hull to see the Deep. Came away just as your match against Bamber was finishing. Unfortunately SHE insisted on staying on the by-pass!!! We had been haf-expecting to be sent to you that day once we knew that Spenny were still in the cup. Looking forward to our visit and renewing acquaintances, though, it's always a nice place to visit - let's hope this time the ref sends the right man off (supporters of both Ferriby and Alfreton will know what I mean). I think the top three will be us, you and Spenny, and whoever of the three has to do it via the play-offs will still go up. Spenny gave us a great game up there which could really have gone either way, and they are a very good side.
