Right im an assistant Referee on the unibond, Can someone please explain, the challange cup, president cup and chairmans cup. I think i understand that challange cup the most inportant one, But why have chairmans and president for. what they come down as.Also where the final ties played at for the cup. i think challange cup is over two legs, so does anyone no. i think chairman cup and preident cup looks a waste of time. u lose a cup game then go in that. There are to many games cups as it is with. f.a trophy, f.a cup. challange cup, local county cup like the marsden trophy 4 example. do people agree on me. no wonder gates are very poor for cup games. so please can anyone explain it out there. thanks mark

The other cups are from the old way of doing those competitions and are just being kept on rather than getting rid of the trophies altogether. The League (challenge cup) is most important as it used to be between all 44 (45 at the moment!!) clubs. Presidents Cup was top 8 in prem (prev season) and top 8 div 1. The chairmans cup used to be the 1st div cup (unifilla cup) and was between........................you guessed it the Div teams!!

I think we have to mant cups and it should be changed!!

Too many cups

As a supporter of a team that won four trophies last season (admittedly the league was the NCEL) I could perhaps be forgiven for wanting loads of cups. But I don't. And attendance figures for these ties would seem to indicate that neither does anyone else. I suppose they're OK for giving fringe players a kick of a football, but that's about all. There are too many fixtures being played, especially in these times when postponements are much more frequent than they ever used to be, and fixture congestion becomes a problem, especially for clubs who make cup progress.
