Congrats to Stalybridge and Kidsgrove on winning the December awards - especially to Kidsgrove in Div 1. Well done, but just a reminder that we want it back in 31 days' time. Bad luck Radcliffe, it would surely have been yours but for that defeat at Ferriby on Saturday.
Incidentally, Radcliffe lads, did you know there is another Radcliffe (Radcliffe Olympic, from Radcliffe-on-Trent) playing in the Senior Division of the Notts Alliance who have, I believe, won every match since mid-September? Before Saturday I was getting ready to take bets on which Radcliffe would be the first to slip up. As well as Alfreton, I have an interest in Rainworth MW, my home village club, who play Radcliffe Olympic a week on Saturday.

do you know Terry Bell? he's from Rainworth and was captain of the Welfare cricket team

Yes I know Terry very well. He was involved with Mansfield CW cricket club for many years, but they folded early this year when the Welfare committee let Rugby League onto their cricket ground. Rainworth CC had folded the year before, and Terry was instrumental in resurrecting them this season. They groundshare with the football club of which I'm still programme editor although I rarely see them play (whisper it - three-sided ground!). Whenever my wife and I meet Terry(usually in the local Tesco) she raises her eyes to the heavens and carries on shopping while Terry and I have a chat.
