well...

Basically during the match I felt like I was living in a parallel universe. Shildon FC's ground (who share with Bishop) isn't that much of a ground which is to be expected, nice clubhouse and that though.

Most of the time I just couldn't fathom what was going on, there was an incident in the second half when a coin was thrown at the linesman. The ref tried to get a committee member to eject him from the ground, but all he could get was the woman who did the raffle. She then came on the pitch for some reason, Bishop's fans were going mental, then, to ice the loony cake, an ice-cream van decided to belt out its chimes, in 5 degrees weather.

There was only one word to describe it... bizarre.

You aint been Frickley then! If you go in the Westfield Hotel near there ground it's like something out of The League of Gentlemen, everyone stops and looks at you.

We've been in there, it looked closed down until you try the door. They were sitting in there wrapped up against the elements !!!.
As for the pool table, shudder to think what had gone on, on that piece of once green material, some of the stains !!!!.
Not one of the better drinking holes, we walked back down the hill back into town the following year and found a rather nice place.

Have to agree with you about Frickley...

I remember trying to go for a pint before the Boxing Day derby about 5 years ago.

Tryed to get into the bar under the main stand... how that place passed any health and safety standards is beyond me!

I won't say anything bad about the fans because they hate us enough anyway!

Bishop v Belper

February 11 2003, 7:05 AM

Obviously the ale was a little strong for our friend from Belper.
1 A coin was not thrown
2 The ladyt was the Tresurer of the Club
3 A man did the raffle

Raffle/golden goal, same thing innit really?

I only went by what one of your supporters said, we didn't actually get the refs report through, however he was that incompetent the guy probably couldn't even write one.

One thing you cannot explain was the Ice Cream Van, now the guy who I work with (who actually grew up in Bishop Auckland, went to school in Shildon and used to watch the two blues), even said he never knew of Ice Cream vans going round in february... must have been a one-off.

Anyway, I am still adding it to Spennymoor as a ground not to visit again!

By the way, what ale? You only have bloody Tetleys and Carlsberg on, both under 4% me laddo.
