I have just read on the official Unibond website that Spartan's,
'Boss, Paul Baker, is having to consider postponing tonight's game against Accrington Stanley. He is struggling to get 11 fit players to form a starting line-up. He said, 'the team have been hit by a flu-like virus and only eight are fit to play at the moment.'
This is obviously a big worry for Blyth but we, the Unibond League, would be reluctant to postpone the game at such short notice.
Baker has asked for anyone who thinks they would be able to turn out for his side tonight to contact the club by phone or email or just turn up at Croft Park by 6.30pm and meet him in the changing room.
Okay - can someone please answer this - just who has Waddle signed for? Reports on BBC website that he signed for South Normanton Athletic. Now it wouldn't normally bother me, but we play Stocksbridge tonight, so I wanna know so I know what we need to be prepared for.................
Doubt whether you'll see Waddle at Witton, Deb. He signed for Glapwell in the NCEL pre-season but has appeared only in two friendlies - one, I believe, against his Sunday side where he played half a match for each team! He never appeared in a competitive match because of his media commitments. South Normanton boss Rob Atkin said Waddle was expected to be available for their last three matches of the season, and now it's Stocksbridge. But you will note that he has therefore now signed for clubs in three different leagues, so I suppose he can take his pick. We (Alfreton) signed John Beresford last season in similar circumstances, but he did make a number of valuable appearances in our promotion run from the NCEL when his TV commitments allowed. But I don't think we would have got the same out of Chris Waddle.
