Just consider that no club can sign any player until after the Unibond AGM in Blackpool, so any club saying they have signed this player of that player is not being correct. It can be only a gentleman's agreement and A Club like Alfreton would not say who they are talking to or have such an agreement with. Good Clubs do not.So hucknall cannot have Signed Anyone officially and that is what counts. Silly really to put such things out at this time as othetr clubs would see what players are available! And I had not realised this rule so do not be too hard on yourself Hucknall Fan etc.
You can sign a player - the Unibond Contracts run till May 31st - not the AGM - and if you have paid a fee, then it is not relevant anyway. Good effort though.
And it still does no answer my question - what do people who saw him last season, think of him
Just to put my 6 pennorth in, since this has probably arisen through the "signing" of "he who shall not be named" by Barrow. The documentation of non-contract players registered with the Unibond League runs for two years ending at 31st May on the second anniversary.
Before it's expiry clubs should not approach the player without giving 7 days notice of their intention to do so to the club holding the registration. If they follow the proper procedure and agree terms with the player, a transfer has to be negotiated with the club, usually involving a fee.
From 1st June therefore, players whose registrations have expired, and who are not under contract, are freely available.
Players under contract or registered with different leagues have different requirements but ALL approaches should broadly be covered by the seven day rule
