hmm, you need to try and do some maths matey boy.
of course someone could win a load of money, but as dave green used to say "thats the gamble".
if you think those odds are easy then you ought to take up betting big style as you'll be john mccririck two!! try www.willhill.co.uk or www.skybet.com
What is a book %? The book % figure helps punters placing more than one bet at a time to make sure they select the odds they want.
If you’re laying all selections in a market where there will be only one winner, and your book % is less than 100%, you will lose money if another punter takes your bets with stakes proportional to your odds!
If you offer odds which give you a book % above 100% on all selections, this will mean you’ll make a profit,
burscough v harrogate has a book %of %103.98, if a bookmaker gave that % he would be generous it needs to be about %120, at first glance it looked like most of the games had less than %100 but they are over %100 but they are all to low for a bookmaker to give them odds
go to www.skybet.com and look at the odds for the first day of the new football season.
i think you will find that the odds i have offered are exactly the same as the ones laid by that bookmaker, and all i have done using my 'expert' opinion is decided which unibond game corresponds to which league game!
and skybet are pretty poor with odds compared to most independents.
Have to say that 5/4 Alfreton and 7/4 Altringham seem pretty well spot on.With Alfreton at home but first game of a higher league and altringham away but having been in the higher league then those odds are quite well thought out. As for the others, I would not comment as I do not know the clubs yet. What are Leeks odds of the div 1 title then Brian?
We won 9 of our last 11 games. We've lost 3 players (one regular, one fringe and star striker Hadland is on a month's trial at Colchester) but gained 8, plus possibly ex-Stoke defender Bryan Small.
I can't see any big spenders in the division as we've had in the last two seasons, and maybe the reduction in FA Cup prize money will mean our larger-than-average crowds will give us an advantage.
Worth a flutter then! I think you may be giving generous odds for Leek to be honest. They did the double over us last season and to be honest looked a very good side when they played us off the park at Alfreton. It was not just the players but the tactics,warm-up-warm down procedures that impressed me- Suggest 5/2 would be better.
I don't think 5/2 in a 22-donkey-race would be right at all! That would make us a hotter favourite than any team in any league bar Man Utd/Arsenal and Celtic/Rangers.
If I still worked in a bookies, I'd offer you 4/1 with pleasure
Thing is Brian, I think you are redhot favourites for the 1st Div Championship-I do not know about other leagues other than the Unibond Prem. One considers you are being modest to be honest. the way you tore us to pieces last season makes you favourites with second favourite Chorley.
Redfan
How can you not "know other leagues other than the Unibond Prem." when youve just come out of the Division One? (sorry, but had to ask that one)
Certainly, were one of the favourites this season (remember when we tore you apart at your place last season????), but the pressure may get to us.
I do know other leagues and my post was ambigious!
I repected Chorley the way they did tear our defence to shreds last season and the preparation for that game seemed highly professional-It was a toss up between you and Leek for 1 and 2 spots-no doubt you are wanting topspot.Hope you have a successful season
