Spennymoor player manager Alex Mathie has added to the recent signings of former Sunderland midfielder Carl Shippen and ex York City defender Gary Hobson with 2 more experienced players. They are ex Burnley forward Tony Shandran and Nick Richardson formerly of Harrogate Town. Players released are, Mark Foster who has rejoined neighbours Bishop Auckland after making a solitary appearance for the Moors and Tony Woodhouse who has joined Blyth Spartans. Stephen Hutt and Stephen Bell will not be retained for next season.

May one enquire where Spennymoor have found the money for these signings which undoubtedly won't be cheap?

Weren't they in dire financial trouble not so long back? Are there new owners bank rolling the club?

Thanks for any info Spenny fans.

The club has a new owner, any info on these players as they have all played for york, ex Burnley forward Tony Shandran played for your team york last season on loan from burnley, he is only 22 so he sounds like a very good signing

For 'Fettis'

Hope your still there. How many games did Shandran play for the first team last season ? I'd heard he had signed for 'City', but obviously not. I watched him at Stalybridge Celtic as a loan player from Burnley and wasn't impressed. To be honest, I'm glad he's not at Bootham Crescent as I'm also a York City fan. What did you think of him 'Fettis'?
Hopin' to get to a few of Yorks games again next season.

Shandran had a month or two on loan without making any real impact. Fairly quick and physical but lacked quality even at 3rd division level.

As for Gary Hobson, well, watching him play is about as attractive as watching a cow pissing on a flat stone (as one York regular put it last season).
