-
IN their second pre-season outing, Alfreton Town recorded their first pre-season victory with a superb 2-1 home win over a very strong visiting Mansfield Town side on Tuesday evening.
In front of 719, Alfreton's hero was Grant Brown who headed an 89th minute winner to atone for giving away a 73rd minute penalty from which Craig Mitchell had equalised for the Stags to cancel out a 35th minute Ryan France opener for the Reds.
Brown's winner left the Stags browned off and knowing how Manchester City felt last Saturday after Mansfield beat them 2-1 at Field Mill.
Reds starting line-up: Stuart Ford, Carl Bradshaw, Neil Grayston, James Cotterill, Grant Brown, John Knapper, Ryan France, Tony Hemmings, Mick Goddard, Emeka Nwadike, Chris Bettney.
Subs: Gavin Saxby, Ian Askey, Chris Dolby, Steve Circuit, Lee McNally, Richard Carrington.
This Friday (25th) the Reds host the prestigious Derbyshire Centenary Cup against Chesterfield (7.30pm).
