Trinity came out firing at the start of the second half and Phil Brown grabbed his second of the match when he shot from inside the box.
Accrington pulled one back when a deep cross was not cleared and the ball was knocked back into the centre where it was knocked into the net past the stranded keeper.
Trinity grabbed a fourth with what even Phil Tingay said would be goal of the season when Chris Hurst smashed an unstoppable shot into the net.
Accrington were then awarded a penalty when Brian Linighan bundled a player to the floor, Steve Flitcroft stepped and converted the spot kick.
Trinity then finished off the scoring when the Accrington keeper made a hash of a good cross with the ball falling kindly for Paul Watts who scored what he later described as a "Rivaldo" overhead kick.
