Trinity were beaten by local rivals Worksop Town in front of a crowd of 876 at the Northolme.
The Blues fell behind as early as the 10th minute. Chris Waddle's excellent free-kick beat everyone in the area, apart from Gavin Smith at the back post who tapped in from close range.
Worksop almost doubled their advantage on 38 minutes. Waddle again whipped in a free-kick but Eshelby blazed the ball over the bar.
The Blues struggled to create chances throughout the game, and looked far from their best. The closest they came to scoring was when Phil Brown's superb cross found the head of Chris Hurst who smacked his header against the crossbar.
The woodwork saved Trinity on 80 minutes when Andy Gray had a curling effort clip the top of the Trinity crossbar.
Worksop sealed the points on 85 minutes thanks mainly to a horrendous blunder by Kevin Martin. The Trinity goalkeeper, who made some costly mistakes last season was at fault again, when he sliced Ian Gore's backpass into the path of Dean Cropper, and the Worksop player was left with a simple finish, rolling the ball into the back of the net.
