After your lots shennanigans last year I suppose this was all inevitable. rumours etc we can deal with but when yet again someone in authority(and God knows how he still is) makes comments that are not only derogatory but verging on racist then its time to draw the line.
we can all have our little digs. we all do it but yet again this man oversteps the mark.
As far as I can see it was a comment said in jest....a bit like somebody calling us Tykes tight gits. I'm proud of my Yorkshire roots just like you should be proud of your Scottish roots. Everybody knows you aint a third world nation (including DS), so why take offence?
Perhaps DS should have put a at the end of his comments.....according to Tambos logic recently on this forum, that would mean the comment was said in jest and is therefore acceptable .
I've heard some moans in my time....but racist, give us a break.
As for the wage cap issue....perhaps most accusations are coming from us in Sheffield, because we are well versed in the snide comments department due to the crap we had to put up with from other supporters during the course of last season. Ever heard the saying "what goes around comes around?"
Regards
Doom
PS. I'll say it again.....I'm suspicious of Ayr, Belfast and London when it comes to breaking the £400k wagecap :)
Difference last year Doom was that it was proved to be true wasnt it. Believe me if it is proved at the end of the season that my team has broken it .. you wont see me parading around in a championship shirt. come to think of it we have got a lot of catching up to do for that to happen anyway :)
MONEY - pure and simple. Everything disappeared as soon as Norton was taking over and they wanted to bring supporters back to the team who can attract the biggest crowds.
They swept everything under the carpet so as not to upset the fans - in the eyes of other fans you shouldn't be parading around in "Champions" shirt and the like.
As for Dave's comments, I'm sure he and other Steeler fans wouldn't dare accuse other teams of summat without having any proof. Would they?!> :):)
Why all the fuss about the wage cap?.The I.S.L.couldn`t care less,so why should we.I expect Manchester to stick to the wage cap.I also expect us to win nothing this year,or any other because I think there will always be people breaking the rules to win trophies, and I don`t think this applies to only 1 team. The wage cap has turned the so called "Superleague" into the short-handed league.I can remember a rule stating you had to dress 17 players or get fined. What a moneyspinner if that rule still applied. We now have 14/15 men in most teams on a regular basis and I think the wage cap is a complete farce.I would welcome back the days when we could ice a 20 man team.
you have badly misjudged me on this one. comments face to face can be dealt with. This is just another in the catalogue of comments made by your midlands mate. He went close to the mark last season and I believe was reigned in. I seriously think it is time yet again for this.
Unfortunately its because of that mans continuing comments throughout the seasons that albeit with quite a few exceptions your fans and the team are universally disliked, nothing to do with success and jealously, more to do with ignorance and arrogance.
And re "nowt to do with last year" funny how all the rumours have come from your neck of the woods.
Called Ayr a class organisation. He went public with that too after they looked after Leboutillier when he arrived. Double standards will be his next criticism, but you must admit it , at wind ups he is the undoubted champ.
Mearly somebody who happens to be passing the doors and get invited to annoy the visitors every home game...
I am sorry scuff but that is hiding behind titles...
After the pre-season noiseon here there can be no arguement that Simms is link at the hip with the steeler organisation ( unless you wish to dis own him now)......
they guy has done more harm to inter team relations than any number of bench clearances....
the best thing he could do is concentrate on selling houses to people stupid enough to thinik live in brum is okay....
Woah there.....don't shoot the messenger. I just tried putting a translation to Simmseys comments. I'm not saying my translation is right....i never did understand Brummie.
As for your stats on number of NHL games....irrelevant to some extent. Our guys may have played a lot more NHL games....but that may make them a lot older. Afterall, if we signed a guy who was 95 years old and had played 5oo games in the NHL, I hardly think he would command a high wage. Wasn't Gage playing in the NHL last season?
For what it's worth....I am suspicious about Ayr, Belfast and London regarding the wagecap, but hey, we had to put up with these accusations for most of last season.
The question is....can any team win the league without the finger being pointed?
Personally I think not.
The whole wage cap issue needs looking at in my opinion.
Whoever is at the top end of the league is going to have the finger pointed this season, next season forever. Following the DB hassles last season anyone winning is going to be under the spotlight.
As for the inimatable mr Simms' comments (hi dave), you can choose to ignore them if you wish. You can shout about pots and kettles, people in galss houses etc etc all you like but it woin't change what happened last season and it won't change Dave Simms so find something more meaningful to discuss.

PS I have been told by a fairly reliable source that Phil Crowe is a dirt cheap acquisition.
Personally I think the policing of the wage cap needs to be changed. Last year it seemed that we were only investigated after Belfast and London pointed the finger and everyone else jumping on the bandwagon accompanied by the financial troubles we encountered. As the clubs have to send a copy of the players contract to the ISL as part of the registration process surely the league itself can monitor the amount each team is spending. Although thats probably too logical for the league to consider.
..you can police it all you want KB but if someone starts giving payments in brown envelopes (as allegedly we did) who's gonna tell the league??
re the suspicions about Ayr Belfast and London, I share them. The diff is the guys they have signed were playing in the NHL last season - unless they've lost a leg then thats a mighty fall from grace!! Yeah, at this stage signings may be dirt cheap as they've nowhere else to play but the close season signings worry me. Players just don't drop from the NHL to the ISL...do they?? It isn't just sour grapes but I know if we'd signed a last season NHLer there'd be all sorts of rumours flying!! No chance of that this season though surely!!!
Merry Christmas to the hockey world in general - have a good'un!!!
