It is with regret that the Sheffield Steelers today confirm the postponement of this Wednesdays home fixture with the
Bracknell Bee’s @ Sheffield Arena.
The Sheffield Steelers have recently been suffering from an abnormal amount of serious injuries and over the past week have fielded much weekend in two away games.
The Steelers today applied to the ISL for permission to cancel Wednesday home game and are very grateful to the assistance they have received from Frank Dempster in this matter.
Steelers have confirmed that they are willing to travel to London for their away fixture on Thursday 10th January as it would have been unfair to expect another ISL team to loose a home fixture at just 4 days notice. Steelers hope to have at least 2 (two) guest players for this fixture
Steelers home game this Saturday against AYR will also take place
Steelers will confirm a date for the re-arranged game with Bracknell once negotiations with both the Bracknell Club and Sheffield Arena have taken place
Steelers Spokesman David Simms said “We are grateful to the league in allowing us to re-arrange this fixture. Cancelling games is only done as a last resort and we felt we certainly had no alternative. If we had of played at home on Wednesday we could have been charged with Steeling money from our supporters as the product we would have put out on the ice would have been so inferior”
