Boring, boring, boring, boring zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz BRACKNELL!!!
Call it a game plan or not but it's suicidally boring you can't beat a six man defence for 60 minutes.
Yet the most disappointing thing about the game was our complete lack of sharpness in front of goal as we had so many good real good chances to SHOOT the PUCK and yet went for that extra pass or tried to beat that final defenceman to walk it into the back of the net.
How can you do that when they have 6 d-men in front of goal this i have no choice but to blame on Chris Lipsett as he on more than one occasion he had a good chance to shoot from close in but played fancy Dan and missed yet against Manchester scored a great second goaljust by doing just that. Also at the end when he got the 5+ game for cross-checking from behind which gave them their chance. Next time guys if you have the chance go for it SHOOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yet the iceweb report talked about thrilling end to hockey ( the report that developed during the match that is - the report was rewritten at the end) with many good chances created and outstanding goal tending from both netminders.
I assume the iceweb report was written by a Steelers supporter ( Iceweb reports usually produce a home team fan)
Sorry, but were you at the same game as me ?? I thought that tonight's game was one of the best seen at the HOS this season. There was quality/technical hockey from BOTH teams tonight, and it was very enjoyable (similar to the 0-0 draw against Ayr a few years ago).
The speed, quality of passing, and skill from both teams was VERGING on NHL hockey - I stress "verging". If you can't appreciate quality hockey when you see it then don't watch NHL hockey.
The low score was down to 2 excellent net-minding performances, both of which got MOM
Just to put you straight I wasn't talking about the game but Bracknell We did create chances and every now and then so would they but usually with only one player and sometimes two but it wasn't end to end. Both goalies were great but we had chance after chance and didn't shoot and our powerplay was even worse than usual as we passed and passed but nobody was in front of goal screening the goalie which was how Ron scored on sSturday. As for NHL hockey did you see the Rangers/ Bruins game on Wednesday that is what crisp passing is and driving the net then when the chance comes you shoot unless your Eric Lindros which none of our guys are. I'm not slating them but we should and could have had two points in the bag and when the playoffs come Belfast,Ayr and others won't miss such opportunities. We have the talent so lets take advantage.
there seemed to plenty of rubber put down on Watkins..what got through was chuffin well saved mate..
Boring ? No!!
Quite a good game most of the people that I spoke to thought..
Cant blame Lipsett either..he wasnt the only one that wanted to have that extra touch NOW AND AGAIN..
It would have been a travesty on either keeper last night if somebody had won that game..
as for comparing a NHL game to last nights fare...No Greg, thats something you cannot do..two TOTALLY different products...and always will be..
If you read Zodi's comment she said it was verging on NHL standards which it wasn't but was in periods very good from us but my reference to the NHL was about their eye for goal. Don't forget how many players in this league have some NHL experience especially Kruse and Lauer but the point i was making was one of that we didn't take our chances when they came (something a coach always tells his players is to shoot the puck, if you don't shoot how can you score). Goalies make mistakes so there's always a chance if it is on target which is how Mark Laniel scored past Stevie Lyle (every day shot but Lyle make a mistake and it went in).
As for the boring bit wasn't it mentioned in the Star last week.
P.s. Alot of what was said last night was in frustration at not winning a game which we dominated,Yes Watkins played a blinder but we made the first goal look easy yet other similar chances went amiss.
