Is it just my imagination or are Belfast on the verge of being a Sheffield Steelers for the new millenia ?

Why do I say that ?

Well looking around the web its seems a lot of people got a huge amount of pleasure seeing Belfast get their bottoms kicked tonight and better still Bob Zellar embarrass himself on National TV

Now before anyone says, "...it was nice to support the plucky underdog", I would remind you that Ayr finished 2nd in the league, a position occupied [ in the most] by the London Knights last season and you wouldn't have described them as plucky underdogs at last years play-offs would you ?

i thought nearly exactly the same.
but i seriously think the giants do not have the bottle when it comes to finals. (even when it is on their own ice)

Bobster..notice also the similarity in that in our first major event Wembley v the Devils, we got a 12-1 tonking....on live TV and much to the amusement of hockeyfans around the UK!!.

Didnt do too bad out of the experience in the end did we...:)

what i noticed in the Odyssey was that there were a lot of First timers there...and it was these 'sorts' that were most vehement in their condemnation of the Giants performance (which was a really good 'choke' it has to be said)
It may have brought a few folks down to earth over there and made some see that theres more involved in a game of hockey than always winning..Im not being gleeful about the matter, I was severly as piddled off with the result, cos I was in the company of flocks of the poor depressed buggers all night...
it may do em some good in the long run..they just have to learn how to lose...now and again..

You're right Scuff. People here are born depressed - read the Kingdom of Giants forum for proof. It doesn't take a magnificent defeat like on Sunday to get us depressed. The guilt of sucess and winning makes us so depressed that we are not happy until we are really depressed. I blame it on the lack of a decent real ale. As for hanging about with depressed buggers. You can always judge a person by the company he keeps. I spotted you in McHughs on Saturday apres the match with your name on your shirt - I was going to say hello but you looked as if you where much to happy to approach. Still in reflection we managed to get beaten without maintaining one ounce of pride. My wife said on TV - 'With fans like these - how can we lose' - now that's what I call style.
