Rivalry

Hi sorry I know I keep posting like this but I need help again with some research for my dissertation (and you can kind of debate this one). Just wondered if people could tell me what the main clashes are rivalry wise between clubs, in their opinion. (So that I can encorporate in a fixture list creating system so say the boxing day games are more exciting etc)

From my own Sheffield point of view I would say we go somthing like
1. Notts
2. Manchester
3. Belfast
5. Ayr
4. London
5. Bracknell

Would I be right? and what about from other clubs prospectives?

Thanks, keep up the gossiping, oh and can we have a counter at the top of the page to the start of season again anyone? (Worrying I need that so soon eh!)

Nicky

1) Panthers
2) Storm
3) London
4) Ayr
5)Belfast
6)Bees

Panthers always will be my number one team to beat, no matter whether they are at the top or bottom of the table..

Nicky
As an Eagles fan this is what I reckon

1)GIANTS
2)STEELERS
3)PANTHERS
4)STORM
5)KNIGHTS
6)BEES
Pretty close between the last two mind you.
We're building up a nice friendly rivalry with the Giant's their fan's are great, certainly replaces the fierce rivalry we had with the Devil's, hopefully they'll be back soon!!

Rivalry from a stormy point of view.

April 18 2002, 12:32 AM

Stormies tend to not have a great deal of rivalry so I
guess it would have to be
1.STEELERS
2.STEELERS
3.STEELERS
4.STEELERS
5.STEELERS
6.PANTHERS.
Please don't take offence it's only a joke
Scuff--I guess we will be seeing you in Oldham after
all.We will have to meet for drinkies.

Well there's a surprise....

April 18 2002, 7:35 AM

To be honest, I'd like to see how fans of other teams view rivalries. It would be my guess most (and maybe all) other teams put Steelers as there number 1 or 2 rivals. I guess that's sort of good from our point of view, because we can always be guaranteed a good atmosphere because of the animosity towards us.

For what it's worth, here's my list (including 2 old friends):-

1. Manchester - Apart from this season, Manchester games have always had a better atmosphere due to the larger travelling support.
2. Nottingham
3. Cardiff
4. Newcastle
5. London
6. Ayr
7. Belfast - I think this one will start moving up the list as the years go by
8. Bracknell

Regards

Doom

1 London
2 Belfast
3 Cardiff
4 Ayr
5 Manchester
6 Sheffield
7 Newcastle
8 Nottingham
but not much between the bottom three in my view.

April 19 2002, 6:48 PM

In terms of rivalry

1.Ayr
2.Sheffield
3.Nottingham
4.London
5.Manchester
6.Bees

Now if you ask me the order of who i support after Belfast ... thats reads differently

So what.......

April 20 2002, 1:06 AM

IF ppl think (although this is no disrespect to thers) that we r big rivals it shunt matter.

A team should be able to raise its game regardless who it is playing I mean even we can raise our game against them lot from the dark side.

Looking Forward to the next season, even though im due to e in the USA

Big Dave Steeler

PS: on recieving my prospectuse for notts trent uni for 2003 entery, under sports it says:

It is a mixed view on our local football temas and there is our Ice Hockey Heroes The Nottingham Panthers.

Now I know someone has to love them, but even the locals should realise how bad theyn are.

Sorry

April 20 2002, 9:09 AM

I had put the posting on after I came back from work and was really tired, obviously I was that tired I was showing the skills of english taught at trent Uni.

But the point i was making, is that OK rivalries are good, more ppl in arenas, gud contests etc. But you should be able to raise your game to that level all the time.

Many Appologies once again over the spelling.
