By Bob westerdale..
all about how talks had taken place of a swop type situation where Kruser went to the Giants and P*xo came to us..
sent a right shiver down my back...
apparently tho, being as Kruser hasnt decided what to do yet and it was only Schultes agent sounding us out, Blaiser reckons we would lose out if it occurred...
Paxton had a great season in Belfast last year perhaps his best yet over here. I would like the whole steelers bench to be toughened up. With Ally gone perhaps there is room for both Kruse & Shulte

On how much money each player wants. Personally, I always enjoy watching Schulte, but believe Kruse is a much better all round player. However, if Kruse is after £40k and Schulte £30k, then Schulte might be the better option on the basis that it frees up more money to be spent elsewhere.
The article is a little misleading as both Kruse and Shulte are not under contract and are free to go where they want without the Steelers or Belfast having any influence over them. A swap can only occur when players are under contract to a club. The Steelers could have both Kruse and Shulte if they wanted/could afford to, so there is no use debating this issue as a trade of players.
its obvious whilst reading the article that it is merely specualtion on the part of the journo involved..but the fact that schulte's agent has been in touch and that Kruse was mentioned in Giants circles does raise (naturally at this time of year) speculation on such matters. As you point out neither is under contract, and the term 'swap' is used in a loose context and as I pointed out, Baliser implies that it would not be a good move..
As for whether its a good point for debate, there seems to be folk willing to further the issue, both on here and KOTG forum..cos thats what forums (?fori) are there for..discussion, debate, speculation and dissemination!!
personally I take the point of somebody above..would be nice to have em both here..tho I am not a Paxo fan, I have seen him play hockey well when he has the mind to..and reckon blaiser would do a good job with him..
I just meant that it wasn't an issue worth debating in terms of it being a "swap" because the fact is both Kruse and Shulte are "free agents." I remember a few years ago when Simmsy was bragging how we won the Laxdal/Beaulieu "swap" with Nottingham when in reality Beaulieu had long ago been sacked by the Steelers and did not go to Nottingham as part of a swap. The issue of whether Kruse or Shulte would be better for the Steelers is an interesting topic for debate. Personally I think Kruse is better than Shulte but IMHO signing Kruse for a hell of a lot more than it would cost to get Shulte would not be smart business, better to get Shulte and use the money saved on Kruse's wages for another quality player.
As far as Uncle Nort loosening the purse strings to get both of them, I was only mentioning that it is possible, however in reality there is no chance in hell of that happening. A pessimistic side of me feels like winning last seasons playoffs could come back to haunt the club this season. There might be the possibility that Uncle Nort is now thinking that since he won a trophy last season he has earned some grace with the supporters and can look to save even more money and not come under criticism from putting out a sub standard product. Uncle Nort might even feel that, since he won being tight with money last year, he can be even tighter with money this year and still have a shot of winning silverware, which would be an extremely dangerous stategy. I am not saying this is certain, only a possibility. Let me know what you think.
