The team is shaping up nicely - we have a lot of little speedy men to run rings round the goons, we have a few guys who seem to be able to handle themselves and therefore stand up to the goons, we have some very able D-men to stop the SOG.

However, the two things that win games are the puck hitting the opponents net, and stopping the puck hitting our net.

Our N/M's seem inexperienced but we will have to trust in Blazer on this one. If you go back over the ISL though it always seems that the teams with the best N/M win the league or are thereabouts.

1998 Ayr - Dopson
1999 Manchester - Pietrangelo
2001 Steelers - O'Niell/Torchy
2002 Belfast - Bales

As regards the forward positions, have we really replaced the sniper role vacated by Miehm and Lipsett? This is crucial if we are to do well this year. A good goalscorer or two makes the difference between a mid-table team and league champions.

In my opinion we need to sign someone in the Steve Thornton mould (is he fit?), or someone along the lines of PC Drouin. we shall have to wait and see..........

Cheers
Ian

Maybe not

Mike thinks that Jason Sessa is a scorer, also, do you not think that Messrs Norris Simpson and Gordon may chip in with a few?

You have a point there DS, but.....

........although Simmer, Norris and Gordon will all chip in with their fair share, I think it's important to have a real top class goal poacher on your roster.

The one thing that you have to realise is that when someone like Ed Courtenay is on the ice, the defense is always so aware of him, and this naturally creates space for the other players to exploit. I think that if we did have another Lipsett (and I sincerely hope that Jason Sessa is), the likes of Simmer, Norris and Gordon will get more goals because the attention of the D-men will be taken away from them slightly and allow them more space and opportunities.

All-in-all though I think we have a decent line-up, but the Giants will be the team to beat I fear.

Scott Levins

What do people think Scott Levins is, you don't score 32 goals in the AHL if you ain't a scorer, and led the AHL in powereplay goals.
