Ok, I know us Stormies like to rib you guys, and vice versa. This time, though we need your help. You have surely heard about the problems we've been having on our side of the Pennines, but for those who havent, heres a summary:

Storm agreed to pay rent in full at start of each season. They now want to switch to paying monthly. Storm want to pay at the months end (ie when the money is there), SMG (arena owners) Want monthly payments at Start of month. Stalemate. They have both set a 48 hr deadline to sort the problem. If not sorted, Storm owner Gary Cowan will collapse the Storm, meaning no Hockey in Manchester.


So, i am making a request......the hockey community in the UK is tight knit. Help us out. Contact SMG at: john.knight@smg-europe.com (apparently this guy runs the Arena for SMG.), let them know that Hockey fans accross the UK want Hockey to continue in the UK.

So, are you with us?

Please, though, If you (graciously) choose to do this, be polite. Ranting wont help anyone. Help keep Hockey alive in the UK.

....... but Storm need the MEN and, presumeably the MEN want the Storm to continue. Why don't they compromise and make payment in mid-Month?

As I said, probably too simple.

The MEN dont need the Storm Smg dont give a flying whatever for hockey and with the poor crowds last season they dont care

............ but I don't know any organisation, and that includes the shower that run the Sheffield Arena, that needlessly turns away revenue.

Anyway for what it's worth my email has gone to SMG.

How about a 'Save our Storm' (SOS) campaign, the same as we had in Sheffield. You obviously need more bums on seats so how about a session in the city centre and at the Trafford centre handing out leaflets. Plenty of your people came over to Sheffield to help us - so I'm sure you'd get support from Steelers fans. Surely the Arena can take the rental out of the takings - or is that too easy?
