Well, I thought (read it on a GB somewhere) that on the official Storm GB the (ex?)announcer at Manchester posted to explain to the fans why he'd resigned/wouldn't be at the arena any more, and why he was hired in the first place, etc.

Maybe I'm wrong! I was just wondering if (if it's true) he resigned because he knew he would be fired if he didn't, for his awful announcing.

MoJo "resignation"

September 24 2002, 2:30 PM

It was myself that posted the info on the "official" steelers guestbook. I have reproduced it below.

Quote
The only reason I was asked to attend home games was because I love the Game and have knowledge about the Sport having worked at Power 92 with the Oilers.

I will not be back at the Storm Games judging by peoples opinions and to be bullied by Violence yesterday by a Gentleman whom seemed to be in his Mid to Late 40's perhaps a little older is stupid.

Start a petition if you want by bthe way as I won't be making a return as far as I can see at the moment!

Endquote

Cheers Mark

A bit OTT if you ask me

September 24 2002, 4:03 PM

All got a bit out of hand really. OK they guy said a few things he shouldn't but who hasn't?. Mojo is actually not a bad chap and I've heard worse to be honest. I must say, the Brebant thing, I laughed then forgot about it. The biscuits comment, I laughed, so did my 11 year old, then we forgot about it. If we get fined, OK, we get fined and then forget about it. It's not something a guy should have to resign for because he's been physically threatened is it?. I mean if we had a quid for every time we'd been insulted at the HOS by Dave Simms we could probably have bailed Gary Cowan out by now .

Incidently, do any of the learned posters on here know why an investigation is invoked?. Does it require a complaint or is there an ISL representative at the games or what?.

I would imagine the investigation.....

September 24 2002, 7:04 PM

........ is into the way he announced game stats.

For example as game announcer you are not allowed to say " yep you guessed it, a penalty to the Storm". If the referee heard that he would report it.

Say what you like about DS but his announcing of game stats is impartial, obviously apart from the initial "Gooooooaaaaaaaallllll for the Sheffield Steelers"

Scoreboard display

September 24 2002, 7:57 PM

perhaps it was the non showing of the penalties for the 2nd period. There were many penalties which failed to show on the board. Difficult to know how long left in the heat of the action.

It wasnt MOJO announcing the game stats....

September 24 2002, 8:36 PM

Ok there seems to be some confusion: MOJO only does the sections inbetween the periods etc. A guy called Neil (from Comtec presentations) was doing the announcements during the game.
